SHORT DESCRIPTION: In the not so distant past, Friuli was a region of emigration, a phenomenon that touched almost all Friulian families. The “Labour and Emigration” section of this museum tells the stories of people who left the region to go “lâ pal mont” (“out into the world”) through photographs, artifacts and documents that help to frame emigration and provide information about the destinations of the workers who left Western Friuli. The focus of the exhibition is to show how many locals, especially mosaic and terrazzo workers, managed to have successful careers abroad, contributing to the diffusion of these skills and being celebrated with pride in their homeland to this day.
