SHORT DESCRIPTION: The ancient water mill of Borgo Ampiano is situated on the banks of the Cosa stream. According to the oldest sources, the mill was built in 1320, and was subsequently consolidated and enlarged. Today the two-storey building is open to visitors, who can see the machinery of a bygone age. The old façade of the mill was covered by two splendid frescoes, both depicting the Madonna, which are now kept in the Conegliano Civic Museum. The first fresco, attributed to the painter “Pordenone”, shows the coat of arms of the Savorgnan family, lords of the castle of Pinzano al Tagliamento and owners of the mill. The second fresco portrays the wife of the painter and sculptor Vittorio Basaglia.
Today the mill and the wide meadow in front of it are used as a backdrop for cultural events, theater performances, music sessions and workshops.

Thanks to a contribution from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, a study has been made on the accessibility of this eco-museum cell.
