SHORT DESCRIPTION: This mill dates from the 14th century. It has been hypothesized that this water mill was once smaller, with one or two millstones on a single floor. Between 1510 and 1544 Friuli was struck by several earthquakes and the mill underwent various renovations. At the end of the 18th century, after a violent earthquake, the mill was completely renovated and the upper floor was enlarged. The mill was used to grind maize, barley, oats and wheat; later a hammer for stockfish was installed.
The last owners, Guido Gridello and Cesarina Pasquon, stopped the activity of the mill on 30 December 1995.
The water mill has now been reopened to the public following a major restoration project funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Fondazione Friuli.
